This training helps organizations welcome Business and Skills-Based Volunteering with a structured, realistic, and clear approach.

It helps participants understand the specific characteristics of these forms of engagement, identify the types of needs they can address, clarify expectations, roles, and collaboration boundaries, and use adaptable tools based on their context.

The training covers the full cycle adapted to this type of volunteering: identifying needs, defining the assignment, welcoming volunteers, communication, follow-up, adjustments, recognition, evaluation, and closing the engagement.

Special attention is given to the project brief, which helps transform a need into a clear, proportionate, and shareable volunteer assignment.

Business and Skills-Based Volunteering is not about obtaining professional expertise for free. It is about bringing knowledge, networks, and a desire to contribute in support of a mission, through a clear, meaningful, realistic, and respectful relationship.

Participants will learn how to:

• Distinguish Business Volunteering, Skills-Based Volunteering, and other forms of engagement;
• Identify organizational needs that may be suited to this type of assignment;
• recognize success factors and limitations of this type of collaboration;
• clarify expectations, roles, responsibilities, and deliverables;
• develop a meaningful, realistic, and well-defined volunteer assignment;
• adapt a project brief according to the nature, duration, complexity, and risks of the assignment;
• prevent misunderstandings related to expectations, deliverables, timelines, confidentiality, ownership of tools or resources, and limits of responsibility.
