Context of the mandate
Ressources communautaires Omega is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting adults living with mental health challenges by providing supportive housing and community-based services that promote independence, stability, and social inclusion. We are seeking new members to join our Board of Directors, bringing diverse perspectives, skills, and expertise to strengthen our governance and support the organization's continued development. Board members help guide the organization's strategic direction, oversee its sound management, and contribute to the long-term sustainability of its services. This volunteer opportunity offers a meaningful way to make a positive impact on the lives of the individuals we serve and the broader community.
Tasks
Key Responsibilities: Actively participate in Board of Directors meetings (approximately 9 meetings per year). Contribute to discussions and decisions regarding the organization's strategic direction and priorities. Support good governance and responsible oversight of financial and organizational resources. Participate, based on interests and availability, in one of the Board's committees: Human Resources, Finance, or Governance. Support the organization's mission, values, and long-term development. Act in the best interests of the organization while respecting confidentiality and the responsibilities associated with serving as a Board member.
Desired qualifications
We are looking to welcome 1 to 3 new members to our Board of Directors to bring diverse expertise and strengthen our governance. We are particularly interested in individuals with professional experience in one of the following areas: Labour Law and Human Resources: Experience in labour relations, employment law, or human resources management. Finance and Accounting: Expertise in financial management, budgeting, accounting, or auditing. Engineering, Construction, or Property Management: Experience in building maintenance and management, renovation projects, or infrastructure. Additional Assets: Knowledge of the community sector or mental health issues. Understanding of Quebec's healthcare and social services system. Previous experience serving on a Board of Directors. We value individuals who demonstrate sound judgment, integrity, professionalism, and a collaborative approach, and who are motivated to contribute their expertise to a meaningful community mission. Previous experience in board governance or the mental health sector is not required.
Expected level of involvement
The expected commitment includes approximately 9 Board of Directors meetings per year, each lasting 1 to 1.5 hours. Meetings are held primarily virtually or in a hybrid format. In-person attendance is expected at least once a year, particularly for the Annual General Meeting (AGM). Depending on their interests and expertise, Board members may also participate in one of the Board's committees (Human Resources, Finance, or Governance), involving approximately 2 to 3 additional meetings per year. A medium- to long-term commitment is preferred to ensure continuity and stability within the Board of Directors.
