Strong analytical, collaboration, and communication skills, as well as an interest in immigration and community development issues, would also be considered valuable assets.
Expected level of involvement
Board members are expected to maintain a consistent and active level of involvement in the organization’s governance. This generally includes: a two-year renewable term; participation in Board meetings, typically held every six to eight weeks; preparation for meetings by reviewing relevant documents in advance; active participation in discussions, decision-making, and strategic reflection; occasional involvement in one or more Board committees, depending on expertise and organizational needs; availability for special meetings, working sessions, or strategic planning activities when required; participation in selected organizational events or representation activities, when relevant; a willingness to deepen their understanding of L’Hirondelle’s operations, priorities, and key issues over time; openness to taking on broader governance responsibilities as part of the Board’s succession and continuity planning.
