Context of the mandate

BOARD OF DIRECTORS POSITION -  INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY PROFILE

In keeping with the organization’s mission and values, the incumbent is responsible for overseeing the organization’s digital governance and information technology (IT) strategy.

Tasks

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Advises the Board of Directors on technology strategies and priorities that support the organization’s mission and objectives
• Provides guidance on data governance practices (collection, retention, and use) in compliance with applicable laws, particularly privacy and personal information protection legislation
• Contributes to the development of internal policies regarding cybersecurity, the use of digital tools, and access management
• Assesses the organization’s technology needs (hardware, software, cloud hosting) and guides technology choices based on the organization’s budget and team capacity
• Identifies cybersecurity risks and recommends appropriate safeguards tailored to the realities and resources of a nonprofit organization
• Supports the selection and implementation of appropriate digital solutions (CRM systems, online donation platforms, membership management tools, collaborative tools)
• Oversees or provides guidance on digital development and improvement projects (website, applications, internal systems), from initial scoping through implementation
• Evaluates costs associated with technology projects and recommends solutions that optimize cost-effectiveness and value
• Manages relationships with external service providers (developers, hosting providers, consultants) and ensures the quality of deliverables
• Ensures that the website, digital communications, and tools used by the organization comply with universal accessibility standards, in alignment with the organization’s mission
• Translates complex technology-related issues into clear and accessible language for other Board members and staff

The incumbent works within a nonprofit organization or institution and is able to address the challenges associated with scaling the organization’s activities and impact.

To ensure greater complementarity of skills within its Board of Directors, DéfPhys Sans Limite is primarily seeking an individual with the following profile:

Required Qualifications

• Degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field

• Training in or a strong interest in governance

• Fluency in written and spoken French

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office

• Familiarity with the Microsoft 365 environment

• Knowledge of cybersecurity and data protection issues

Expected level of involvement

COMMITMENT

A two-year commitment, including one Board of Directors meeting per month, as well as occasional additional meetings as required. Meetings are held virtually. Attendance at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) is expected.

Board members are also expected to participate, as reasonably possible, in the organization’s activities and events.
