Context

Founded in 2021, Jardins pour tous is a non-profit organization (NPO) that uses urban agriculture as a tool for social cohesion in Milton-Parc. As we grow and participate in the MIS Civic Incubator, we are looking to strengthen our legal framework to support our social mediation projects and community partnerships.

Role Description

Reporting to the Executive Director, the volunteer will provide occasional legal support regarding the organization’s operations.

Main Responsibilities:

• Governance: Occasionally review bylaws and support management in Board of Directors processes (e.g., meeting notices, compliance of resolutions).

• Agreements and Contracts: Review simple Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with community partners or service contracts (e.g., contractors, grant recipients).

• Recovery: Advise the organization on simple debt recovery procedures or grant follow-ups if necessary.

• Strategic Advice: Provide legal perspective on civil liability issues related to activities in public spaces.

Desired Profile

• Legal background (Lawyer, Notary, or senior Law Student).

• Experience or strong interest in NPO law and social economy.

• Ability to simplify legal concepts for a small team.

• Strong ethics and attention to detail.

Commitment: 1 to 3 hours per month (as needed)

Location: Remote / Occasionally in Milton-Parc (Montreal)
