Call for Applications: Board Member 2-year term: July 2026–June 2028 Our nonprofit organization aims to address the logistical and operational challenges faced by its members in order to establish a local and sustainable supply chain. It represents a consortium of some thirty solidarity-based organizations that share and pool resources to source products through short supply chains, with the goal of improving the local and solidarity-based food system for Montrealers. Our development projects aim to diversify our supply sources by working with small, local, and eco-friendly producers; expand our member network to strengthen financial autonomy; develop and diversify our service offerings throughout the year; geographically expand our activities across Greater Montreal; and strengthen our digital marketing strategy. The board of directors is composed of:
-4 members from organizations that benefit from MAMS’s services
-1 local producer partner
-1 food security partner
-1 to 3 external members supporting the current mission
As a nonprofit organization, the Mutuelle is overseen by a board of directors (BOD) composed of volunteer members. The BOD has legal responsibility for the organization’s governance and contributes to the organization’s long-term vision and the fulfillment of its mission. In collaboration with senior management, the BOD is responsible for ensuring that the organization follows its strategic plan. To further its development, MAMS wishes to adopt a democratic and diverse governance model.
● The term of office is 2 years, with an estimated time commitment of 5 hours per quarter.
● The Board meets for 2-hour sessions at least 5 times a year.
● Once elected, Board members may run for an officer position (Chair, Vice-Chair, Treasurer, Secretary).
● Prompt communication is expected to ensure smooth exchanges between the Board and senior management as well as the smooth running of operations.
● Board members must conduct the necessary reading and research to fully contribute to discussions and decision-making.
● Strong interest in the governance of community organizations
● Commitment to the mission and work of MAMS
● Knowledge of the social economy to support and develop MAMS’s project strategy
● Availability to fully participate in meetings and committees
● Skills in finance, human resources, and accounting are a plus

The new board members will be elected by a vote of the members at the Annual General Meeting of the Mutuelle d’Approvisionnement des Marchés Solidaires in June 2026. The Board of Directors reserves the right to make a recommendation to the General Meeting after reviewing the nominations.
