Context of the mandate

Growing young people’s interest in science, across Quebec.

The Réseau Technoscience stimulates and shares a passion for science, technology and innovation among young people, while encouraging the emergence of a new generation of scientists, through its members present across Quebec (Expo-sciences, Défis technologiques, Débrouillards, Innovateurs à l’école, Monde de Morgan, Turnkey Products).

We are strengthening our Board of Directors with two new members.

Tasks

What we expect from directors

• A genuine interest in science, technology and innovation, and in youth
• Availability for 8 meetings per year, participation on a committee, and attendance at one Network activity
• A collaborative spirit, and respect for governance and conflict-of-interest rules

Desired qualifications

1. Finance, accounting and treasury

• Monitoring of the budget, cash flow and financial statements; relationship with auditors
• Rigour in accountability reporting to funders

Profile: CPA or equivalent experience, ideally in a non-profit or public funding context

2. Incoming Chair

• Unifying leadership with the directors and the executive director
• Representation of the Network with partners and government bodies

Profile: leadership or governance experience, strategic vision, availability for a more sustained commitment

Expected level of involvement

Terms, diversity and inclusion

Two-year term, renewable. Volunteer position; meals provided at in-person meetings. Meetings are mostly virtual, with occasional meetings planned in Montréal. One annual meeting is held in one of the regions where the Network’s affiliated members are located.

We encourage applications from underrepresented groups. Where qualifications are equal, these applications will be given priority.
