Context of the mandate

For over 60 years, Les Petits Frères has been supporting elders experiencing loneliness and social isolation. Thanks to the dedication of its volunteers, the organization fosters meaningful and lasting human connections by offering elders a warm and caring presence. Through its various initiatives, Les Petits Frères helps reduce social isolation, preserve the dignity of the elders it supports, and ensure they remain part of a caring and supportive community.

To support its mission and ensure the smooth running of its daily operations, Les Petits Frères is looking for volunteers to assist its team by providing reception support at its office, located on Garnier Street in Montreal’s Plateau-Mont-Royal neighbourhood.

This volunteer role involves warmly welcoming people who contact or visit the organization, assisting with administrative tasks, and supporting coordinators in their day-to-day work.

By contributing their time and skills, volunteers will play a valuable role in the organization’s daily operations and make a meaningful contribution to its mission, even without working directly with the elders it serves.

 

Tasks

• Answer phone calls and forward messages to the appropriate staff members.
• Check email inboxes and follow up on or forward messages as needed.
• Welcome visitors and guests to the office.
• Perform various administrative and clerical tasks.
• Assist coordinators with their daily tasks, including follow-up calls and mailings.

Desired qualifications

• Being comfortable using basic computer tools and managing emails.
• Having good communication skills. 
• Demonstrating independence, reliability, and discretion.
• Having good organizational skills and enjoy working as part of a team.

Expected level of involvement

On weekdays, from Tuesday to Thursday, depending on volunteer availability and the team's needs. Ideally, volunteers should be available for at least one shift per week, either in the morning or in the afternoon.
