Context of the mandate
The Valiquette Foundation is seeking enthusiastic and reliable volunteers to help organise and support our annual Halloween celebration for children and families in Côte-des-Neiges, Montréal. The event will take place on Saturday, 31 October 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Our celebration will feature two activity rooms: one for children aged 4–8, offering a Halloween movie, popcorn, drawing and creative activities, and another for children aged 9 and older and adults, featuring Halloween activities, candy, snacks and refreshments. We are organising two volunteer teams to assist with event preparation, logistical support and cleanup. Volunteers may choose the shift that best suits their availability. Our goal is to provide a safe, welcoming and memorable Halloween celebration for local families, particularly those who may face financial barriers to recreational opportunities.
Tasks
Group 1 – Setup Team | 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Put up Halloween decorations in both activity rooms. Arrange tables, chairs and activity stations. Prepare the children's movie, drawing and activity areas. Organise candy, popcorn, snacks and refreshments. Help ensure both rooms are welcoming, organised and ready for the celebration. Group 2 – Event Support & Cleanup Team | 4:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Welcome children and families as they arrive. Assist with the distribution of candy, popcorn, snacks and refreshments. Provide general logistical assistance throughout the celebration. Help maintain clean, safe and organised activity spaces. Assist with removing decorations, cleaning and restoring the rooms after the event. Volunteers may participate in one or both shifts, depending on their availability.
Desired qualifications
We are looking for friendly, enthusiastic, reliable and community-minded individuals who enjoy helping organise events and contributing to a welcoming environment for children and families. No previous volunteer or event experience is required. Ideal volunteers are organised, punctual, cooperative and comfortable working as part of a team. They should be willing to assist with light physical tasks such as arranging tables and chairs, decorating rooms, preparing supplies and cleaning up. A positive attitude, flexibility and willingness to help are especially appreciated.
Expected level of involvement
This is a one-day volunteer opportunity on Saturday, 31 October 2026. Volunteers may choose from two shifts: Volunteers who are available for both shifts are also welcome. The Halloween celebration itself takes place from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. All volunteers are warmly invited to enjoy the festivities and encouraged to wear Halloween costumes. No long-term commitment is required.
