Context of the mandate

Our coffee shop is a small, quiet space located in a long-term care centre. It currently offers a limited selection of items and gives residents the opportunity to enjoy a familiar everyday experience.

Beyond making sales, the coffee shop helps promote a sense of normality, independence, and connection for residents. All profits are reinvested in recreational activities and programs for residents.

This is a calm and rewarding volunteer opportunity focused on human connection, friendly greetings, and meaningful everyday interactions.

Tasks

• Welcome residents with a smile and provide friendly service.
• Assist residents with selecting items from the available products.
• Handle small transactions and cash, as needed.
• Keep the counter and coffee shop area clean, tidy, and welcoming.
• Help create a pleasant atmosphere where residents feel comfortable stopping by.

Desired qualifications

• Friendly, patient, respectful, and reliable.
• Organized and able to work independently.
• Enjoys interacting with older adults and taking the time to listen.
• Comfortable greeting residents and engaging in casual conversation.
• No previous experience required; a positive and caring attitude is what matters most.
• Comfortable in both French and English.

Expected level of involvement

We are looking for a volunteer who can offer regular support, depending on their availability and the needs of the coffee shop. Scheduling will be arranged in collaboration with the person responsible for recreational services. ( usually 10am- 2pm)

Consistent availability is appreciated to help provide residents with a dependable service and build warm, familiar relationships.
