Context of the mandate

Art project with youth in group homes and rehabilitation centers.

Role summary
The volunteer helps design and create murals in a residential setting. The volunteer supports the youth in developing ideas, encourages their participation in the creative process, and, whenever possible, involves them in the creation of the artwork. Work is typically carried out one mural at a time, depending on the needs of the facility.

Volunteer Location
Volunteer work takes place in various youth residential facilities in Montreal-Nord.

Tasks

• Meet with young people and community leaders to gather their ideas and identify their needs.
• Create sketches or proposals for murals.
• Collaborate with young people and program staff to develop the artistic concept.
• Complete the mural in accordance with deadlines and community guidelines.
• Encourage youth participation when conditions allow.
• Maintain a respectful, inclusive, and stimulating environment.
• Collaborate with program staff and project leaders.

Training and support provided
- Orientation and integration by the volunteer team.
- Introduction to the living environment and safety rules.
- Ongoing support from the project staff.

• Experience or a strong interest in the visual arts, drawing, painting, or mural art.
• Creativity, independence, and a sense of initiative.
