Context of the mandate

The Foyer du Monde thrift store regularly receives donations of clothing and other items intended to support our residents and the community. To ensure these donations are managed effectively and to maintain a welcoming and well-organized space, we are looking for volunteers to help us sort items at the thrift store.

By donating a little of your time, you make a tangible contribution to the smooth operation of the thrift store and to the mission of Foyer du Monde.

Tasks

The job primarily involves:

• sorting donated items,
• checking their condition,
• categorizing them,
• helping to put them away.

Depending on the needs, you may also perform related tasks such as :

• washing and ironing clothes,
• making minor repairs or simple alterations.

Desired qualifications

No specific experience is required. Above all, we are looking for someone who is reliable, independent, organized, and detail-oriented—someone who enjoys hands-on work and helping to create a welcoming environment.

Expected level of involvement

We are looking for volunteers who are available for a few hours a week or every other week, depending on their availability and the thrift store’s needs. Regular attendance is preferred to help organize the work and ensure continuity in sorting donations.

The schedule can be arranged based on the volunteer’s availability and agreed upon with the volunteer coordinator. Ideally, we’d like a commitment of a few months, though we remain flexible depending on each person’s situation.
