Context of the mandate

At Frigo de l'Est: Épicerie Communautaire et Solidaire, we fight against waste in all its forms. Through the recovery, redistribution, and reuse of resources, we help reduce waste while supporting members of our community.

We are looking for dedicated volunteers to assist our Member Services Manager and our Volunteer Coordinator with various reception and administrative tasks. Due to increased demand, we need volunteers to provide a warm welcome to our members, maintain high-quality services, and effectively carry out our mission within the community.

 

Tasks

• Welcome members and visitors.
• Enter and update data.
• Process membership applications.
• Answer the phone and direct inquiries.
• Refer people to appropriate community resources.
• Receive and record donations (food, clothing, and everyday items).
• Manage the cash register during food distributions.
• Manage the waiting list during food distributions.
• Contact members to confirm their attendance at appointments.
• Contact volunteers to confirm their schedules.
• Sort and follow up on emails.
• Help manage and organize documents.

Desired qualifications

• Comfortable interacting with the public (in person, over the phone, and via email).
• Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Basic computer skills (email, Microsoft Office, data entry, and document management).
• Reliability, punctuality, and discretion.
• Good spoken and written French.
• Knowledge of another language is a plus!

Expected level of involvement

Volunteers must be available for at least two 4-hour shifts per week. You may also sign up for additional shifts based on your availability. You must be willing to commit for at least three months.
