Context of the mandate

If you want to make yourself useful for your community, enjoy contact with the elderly and like getting around in your car, this volunteer opportunity is for you!

As we age, more and more seniors have difficulty getting around due to physical and/or physiological problems. Our medical accompaniment and transportation service (ATMM) is an essential service for our vulnerable beneficiaries (particularly isolated and economically challenged).

Tasks

• Contact the client the day before the appointment, around 5:00 p.m., to ensure they are aware of the trip and to set a meeting time;
• Pick up the client at their home and take them safely to their medical appointment, and occasionally transport a companion (depending on the client’s needs)

Desired qualifications

• Punctual,
• Friendly, smiling and with a good attitude,
• Drive with care and respect for the safety of passengers
• Have a valid driver’s license and insurance.

Please note: a criminal background check is performed and required, as we work for a vulnerable clientele.

Expected level of involvement

Schedule : flexible schedule between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm from Monday to Friday

Most volunteers are available at least one day a week.

Given the nature of this volunteer work, hours vary (some appointments take 15 minutes, while others can last up to three hours). We ask that you arrange your own transportation based on your availability and schedule. If we know an appointment will be long—such as a surgery—you may return home or attend to other matters between the trip there and the trip back.
