Context of the mandate

As part of the organization of the Senegalese Wrestling Festival in Montreal, we are looking for volunteers to support the team before, during, and after the event.

The volunteer will contribute to the preparation and smooth running of a sporting and cultural event celebrating Senegalese wrestling and Senegalese culture in Montreal.

Their involvement will help support the organizing team, ensure the smooth operation of the various activities, and contribute to creating a welcoming and enjoyable experience for participants and attendees.

Tasks

Before the event:

• Assist with preparing event materials and equipment;

• Help prepare event spaces and signage;

• Support the team with various logistical tasks;

• Assist with preparing activities and event operations.

During the event:

• Welcome and direct attendees and participants;

• Support the team with the management of event spaces;

• Assist with setting up and moving equipment when needed;

• Help ensure the smooth running of activities and report any issues to the appropriate team members.

After the event:

• Assist with dismantling and clean-up;

• Help with inventory and equipment returns;

• Contribute to restoring the event spaces to their original condition.

Desired qualifications

No specific education or previous experience is required.

We are looking for someone who is:

• Dynamic, motivated, and reliable;

• Punctual and organized;

• Comfortable working as part of a team;

• Able to follow instructions and adapt to the needs of the event;

• Comfortable in a busy environment and interacting with the public;

• Interested in contributing to a sporting and cultural event that celebrates Senegalese wrestling.

Previous experience in event planning, logistics, or volunteering is an asset but not required.

Expected level of involvement

The volunteer commitment may begin before the event to assist with preparations and continue throughout the festival weekend, with the possibility of contributing to post-event clean-up and organization.

Availability requested:

• A few hours, depending on needs, during the weeks leading up to the event;

• Availability during the weekend of October 10 is strongly preferred;

• Availability for set-up and clean-up periods is an asset.

Specific schedules and tasks will be determined based on the volunteer’s availability and the needs of the organizing team.
