Context of the mandate

The volunteer cyclist’s role is to pick up unsold food items from three businesses on Fleury Street and deliver it to community organizations in the neighbourhood.

Volunteers can commit to all scheduled deliveries or just a few, depending on their availability. We’re flexible and happy with whatever help you’re able to offer. Deliveries happen year-round, both in summer and winter.

Cyclistes solidaires provides trailers to transport the food, and is able to help volunteers attach the trailers to their bikes if needed. Deliveries are made in teams, over distances of between 5 and 10 km on flat terrain.

Becoming a solidarity cyclist means promoting food security in your neighborhood in an environmentally-friendly way, with a group of friendly, dynamic volunteers! It also means taking part in the organization’s festive and inclusive community activities and events. But above all, it’s combining purpose with pleasure, by getting on your bike and making a difference for people in your neighbourhood.

Tasks

yclists pick up unsold food from local businesses (Métro Plus Fleury, Petite Boulangerie, and Clémentine) and deliver it to community organizations that use the food to prepare grocery baskets for their recipients. Deliveries are made in teams of two or three cyclists.

Desired qualifications

We're looking for cyclists who want to pedal their way to improving food security in their neighborhood!
 

Expected level of involvement

• Deliveries are on Tuesdays at 9:15 a.m. and Thursdays at 9:30 a.m.
• Duration : Approximately 60 minutes
• Equipment required: Trailers are provided

Volunteer cyclists can commit to one or more deliveries, depending on their availability. We are flexible and welcome any help you can give! Our deliveries happen year-round (summer and winter).
