Context of the mandate

Cyclistes solidaires is a non-profit organization that offers a volunteer bike delivery service, primarily for organizations working in food security. We also collaborate with various community organizations and local citizen initiatives.

Coordinating bike deliveries involves welcoming, mobilizing, and supporting volunteer cyclists as they carry out bike deliveries. These efforts are carried out in collaboration with a partner organization focused on food security. Cyclistes solidaires will share their expertise and know-how to help make this collaboration a reality.

Tasks

Coordinating Bike Deliveries in Rosemont:

We are looking for someone to coordinate deliveries for the organization Bouffe Action. These deliveries are scheduled once every two weeks, on Monday afternoons or early evenings.

The main tasks include:

• Welcoming new volunteers (in person, by phone, or by email)
• Sending instructions via email to volunteer cyclists
• Communicating with the organization regarding the delivery
• Following up with volunteer cyclists
• Attending a monthly meeting with the Cyclistes solidaires team
• Communicating with other Cyclistes solidaires members via message to share needs and challenges

Desired qualifications

We are looking for cyclists who want to take part in a meaningful initiative that is grounded in strong values.

People who:

• share our values of democracy, cooperation, and empathy;
• have an interest in cycling, community involvement, or food security;
• enjoy working in a team in a horizontal and collaborative environment;
• want to contribute to the development of a growing organization;
• do not need prior experience in governance—learning is part of our mission.

Expected level of involvement

Time commitment per month:

• Deliveries are scheduled every two weeks;
• Coordinating these deliveries takes about 2 hours per month;
• Making the delivery takes about 1 hour (and is not mandatory);
• We ask that the person commit to at least 1 year.

Participation in Cyclistes solidaires:

To actively participate in Cyclistes solidaires, we strongly encourage the person involved to attend our team meeting: on the first Tuesday of each month, our one-hour meeting takes place in person at La Balise (6450 Christophe-Colomb Ave., Montreal, QC H2S 2G7).

In total, the commitment amounts to approximately 3 hours per month.
