Context of the mandate

Ideal Opportunity for a Student in Fine Arts, Museum Studies, or Curatorial Studies

The artists of La Grover are seeking a volunteer to coordinate a group exhibition that will take place on November 6, 7, and 8 at the Grover Building, 2069 Parthenais Street.
The event will bring together between 10 and 20 local artists to celebrate the history of the building where they rent their studios. Spanning two floors, the exhibition will feature a diverse range of works, including paintings, sculptures, videos, and photography.

Tasks

Key tasks:

• Meeting with participating artists,
• Reviewing the artwork selected for display,
• Designing the most compelling layout to create a cohesive narrative, dialogue, and captivating visitor experience.

Desired qualifications

Desired profile:

• Experience or intership in museum studies, or curatorial practices;
• Good organizational skills and attention to detail to follow up with the artists;
• Autonomy and resourcefulness, which are essential for managing a volunteer project;
• Great interpersonal skills and diplomacy;
• Availability for preparatory meetings and for the full three days of the event (November 6, 7, and 8).

Expected level of involvement

Expected Level of Commitment - to be reviewed with the candidate

• Duration of commitment: From end of September until November 9, 2026 (the day after the event for wrap-up/take-down).
• Estimated time required:
  • Lead-up (Preparation): Approximately 10 to 40 hours per week (flexible) for artist meetings, studio visits, and floor plan layout design.
  • During the event (November 6, 7, and 8): Full-time on-site presence required (including setup on November 5 or morning of November 6).
• Work format: Hybrid. Administrative follow-ups and coordination can be done remotely, but studio visits and artwork reviews will take place in person at the Grover Building.
