Context of the mandate
About us
Cyclistes solidaires is a non-profit organization that offers a volunteer bike delivery service, primarily for organizations working in food security. We also collaborate with various community organizations and local citizen initiatives.
Our organizational culture is horizontal, guided by trust, respect, and the belief that each person has unique potential. Our actions are guided by six core values: democracy, empowerment, cooperation, efficiency, continuous learning, and empathy.
Support Coordinator
As a support coordinator, you directly contribute to our mission by participating in the recruitment and/or communications committee.
Responsibilities
- Actively participate in the committee’s overall strategy and its implementation;
- Get involved in the work of one or more internal committees, depending on your interests and skills (approximately 3 to 5 hours per month), including:
- Communications: creating content for social media, community management, and posting.
- Recruitment: supporting volunteer recruitment and organizing community-building events.
- Meetings are held in French.

Tasks
Recruitment Committee (tasks to be carried out as a team):
- Develop and implement an action plan to improve the recruitment of cycling volunteers and strengthen the retention of current volunteers;
- Facilitate the onboarding process for new volunteers;
- Communicate with volunteers by phone and/or email to better explain their tasks and our mission;
- Improve the volunteer retention program for cycling volunteers;
- Represent Cyclistes solidaires at select events to recruit new cycling volunteers.
Communications Committee (tasks to be carried out as a team):
- Develop and implement a detailed action plan to expand Cyclistes solidaires’ reach on social media and connect with new people;
- Create content for social media;
- Create photo and video content and write copy;
- Collaborate with partner organizations to promote their missions;
- Expand our visibility among new organizations and new audiences.
Desired qualifications
We are looking for people who want to put their skills to work for a meaningful initiative aligned with strong values.
People who:
- share our values of democracy, cooperation, and empathy ;
- have an interest in cycling, community involvement, or food security ;
- enjoy working in a team in a horizontal and collaborative environment ;
- want to contribute to the development of a growing organization ;
- do not need prior experience in governance—learning is part of our mission.
Expected level of involvement
Committee involvement time:
- Each committee holds one meeting per month;
- This meeting lasts about 1 hour and is held remotely;
- The time commitment outside of this meeting is between 3 and 5 hours per month;
- We expect the person to commit for at least 1 year.
Participation in Cyclistes solidaires:
To meet the other volunteers at Cyclistes solidaires, we strongly encourage the person involved to attend our team meeting: on the first Tuesday of every month, our one-hour meeting is held in person at La Balise (6450 Christophe-Colomb Ave., Montreal, QC H2S 2G7).
