Context of the mandate

Are you passionate about the well-being of isolated elderly people? Do you enjoy chatting, creating links and sharing moments in life? 

The Côte-des-Neiges Volunteer Center needs you! We’re looking for volunteers to offer home visits or friendly phone calls, to help isolated seniors break their solitude and improve their well-being.

As a volunteer, you’ll have the opportunity to create meaningful bonds with participants and contribute to their quality of life. And as a bonus, you’ll be able to improve your communication and empathy skills!

Tasks

- Make home visits or friendly calls to help isolated seniors break their solitude
- Build relationships with participants and contribute to their well-being
- Listen and discuss with participants to help them feel understood and supported
- Ensure regular follow-up with participants to maintain the link

 

Desired qualifications

Skills required:
- Good listening and communication skills
- Empathy and benevolence
- Ability to adapt to different personalities
- Responsible and reliable

Requirements:
- Fluent in French or English
- Being able to provide two references
- Must have resided in Canada for at least six months due to mandatory police check

Expected level of involvement

Practical information:
Start date: as soon as possible
Location: From the participant’s home for home visits or from your own home for friendly calls
Volunteer hours: at least 2 hours per week, depending on volunteer availability and organization needs
