Context of the mandate

Come celebrate the end of the community gardening season with us and mark 5 years of Jardins pour Tous together!

A friendly, festive, and free day, open to the entire community.

• Date: October 17

• Location: 60 Milton Street

SCHEDULE

Morning

• 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM — Garden stretching with Rob

• 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM — Garden closing and start of the community cleanup

Community Meal

Bring a dish to share, if you'd like!

Afternoon

• 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM — Round table: Reflection on social cohesion in Milton-Parc

• 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM — Continuation of the garden closing and cleanup activity

All Day Long:

• Mandala drawing table

• Herb and medicinal plant wreath-making workshop

• Small bookmark crafting with dried flowers

• Seed packet and seed bomb making

• Plant giveaway

Everyone in the community is welcome: families, gardeners, neighbors, and the curious!

Come sow, harvest, and celebrate these 5 wonderful years of collective gardening with us.

Plot Maintenance and Garden Closing Details

Maintaining the plots:

• Remove dead plants, weeds, and dry stems.
• Cut back perennials to about 10 cm above the ground.
• Remove any remaining vegetables (especially tomatoes, squash, and beans).
• Leave plants that are beneficial to wildlife (e.g., sunflowers, dill, cosmos) on the ground if desired.

Soil Care:

• Spread compost or well-rotted manure over the garden beds.
• Cover with fallen leaves or straw to protect the soil.
• Do not dig up the soil: let the roots decompose naturally.

Profile sought for volunteers

• Experience: Interest or background in gardening, horticulture, facilitation, or community work.

• Skills: Ability to work in a team, interpersonal skills, and aptitude for moderate physical tasks.

• Qualities: Dynamism, organizational skills, versatility, and listening skills.

• Interests: Passion for the environment, urban greening, and neighborhood life.

Expected level of involvement

3 hours minimum
