Context of the mandate

Tasks

• Facilitate conversations in French and/or English tailored to the participant’s level.
• Encourage spoken expression in a respectful and non-judgmental environment.
• Promote the development of self-confidence in using the language.
• Support the practice of vocabulary and expressions related to the workplace and professional situations (interviews, the workplace, daily communications, etc.)
• Share, as needed, general knowledge about culture and daily life in Quebec.
• Inform the coordination team of any specific issues or needs observed.

Desired qualifications

• This volunteer position is open to women only.
• Excellent command of French or English.
• Ability to set goals in collaboration with the participant, prepare for meetings, and assess learning progress.
• Excellent interpersonal and listening skills.
• Openness to cultural diversity.
• Interest in supporting and promoting the inclusion of women.
• Demonstrate empathy, patience, open-mindedness, and flexibility.
• Be encouraging and maintain a positive attitude.

Expected level of involvement

• Commitment for a minimum of six months.
• Be available for individual meetings of 1 to 2 hours per week, primarily online. The schedule and meeting arrangements are determined in consultation with the participant.
• Attend a mandatory 6-hour training session offered by the organization.
• Conduct a monthly follow-up on the meetings and progress of the support.
