Context of the mandate

CRECA – Centre de ressources éducatives et communautaires pour adultes is looking for a volunteer to provide additional support to participants during its computer basics workshops. The workshop facilitator leads the sessions, while the volunteer provides individual support to participants who need additional assistance.

The project aims to promote digital inclusion by helping participants discover and develop their skills in using everyday computer tools.

Through your individual and supportive guidance, participants will be able to learn at their own pace, build confidence, and develop greater independence in using technology.

Tasks

The volunteer will be there to support participants who need a little extra help during the computer basics workshops.

Their main responsibilities will be to:

• Pay attention to participants’ needs and provide one-on-one support when needed.
• Assist participants with the exercises and concepts presented by the facilitator.
• Take the time to explain and demonstrate the steps to follow, while respecting each person’s pace.

The goal is simply to help everyone participate fully in the workshop, progress at their own pace, and gradually gain greater confidence and independence in using computers.

Desired qualifications

We are looking for someone who is comfortable using computers and able to explain things clearly and guide participants step by step.

Above all, we are looking for someone who is:

• Patient, kind, and attentive.
• Comfortable explaining basic computer concepts in a simple and accessible way.
• Able to adapt to the participants’ different skill levels and learning paces.
• Enjoys helping others, sharing their knowledge, and interacting with people.

Expected level of involvement

Time commitment: 1.5 hours per week for one workshop, or 3 hours for both workshops.

Availability: Wednesdays, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. and/or from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Volunteers can choose to support one or both workshops.

Location: In person, at our premises.

Commitment duration: A regular commitment for a few months is preferred to provide continuity and consistent support to participants.
