Context of the mandate

Saturday School is a fun, one-on-one tutoring service for youth from immigrant backgrounds.

Individual tutoring allows students to experience positive learning moments and, as a result, develop their self-esteem and independence.

Your support will have a real impact on the young person’s integration and academic success!

Tasks

With the help of a volunteer, the student works on their main difficulties in French and mathematics through educational games and engaging exercises. This way, the student is better equipped to complete homework and assignments at home in the evening.

As a volunteer, you are matched with one student throughout your volunteer commitment. This thoughtful pairing helps build a trusting relationship that highlights each person’s strengths and qualities.

Desired qualifications

• Knowledge of basic French principles and fluency in spoken French
• Comfort working with children and a desire to support them in learning French
• Comfortable communicating with parents about the child’s progress
• Open-mindedness, empathy, and sensitivity to the immigration context
• Patience and kindness
• 15 years old and over

Important: You do not need prior experience with children or in education to volunteer.

Expected level of involvement

Dates and schedule: Every Saturday until May 30, 2026. You may choose a time slot of 9:00–10:30 a.m., 11:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m., or 12:00–1:30 p.m. Possibility of volunteering for multiple time slots.
