Context of the mandate
As part of its restructuring and development of its activities, CISIM-MTL is looking for a volunteer in accounting and finance to strengthen its financial management and implement rigorous, transparent, and appropriate practices for a non-profit organization (OBNL). The person will contribute to the accounting and ledger, revenue and expense tracking, bank reconciliations, cash flow management, budget preparation and follow-up, and the organization of supporting documents. They will also participate in preparing periodic and annual financial statements, following up on financial projects and grants, and preparing the information necessary for reporting. The volunteer will contribute to the implementation of tools and procedures that promote sound financial management, effective internal controls, and reliable financial information for the management and board of directors. The CISIM-MTL wishes to have an organized, reliable, and up-to-date accounting system, and better visibility on its financial situation. The volunteer’s expertise will directly contribute to CISIM-MTL’s transparency, credibility, sound governance, and financial sustainability, enabling the organization to better focus its resources on its mission of welcoming and integrating immigrants.
Tasks
The Finance Officer contributes to ensuring rigorous, transparent and structured financial management of CISIM-MTL. They support senior management and the Board of Directors in monitoring financial resources and budget planning. The main responsibilities are: Deliverables

Required skills and experience: We are looking for someone who is: Experience in a non-profit organization, community organization, or environment financed by grants is an important asset, but not mandatory.
The CISIM-MTL is looking for a rigorous, organized, autonomous, and reliable person with a background in accounting, finance, financial administration, or management.
Qualities:
Expected level of involvement
Participation in committee meetings: approximately 2 hours per month. Regular engagement, autonomy, rigour, and respect of confidentiality are required.
Operational involvement: up to 5 hours per week, depending on the needs, especially for the general ledger, accounting follow-up, financial statements, budget, and reports.
