Context of the mandate

Are you studying special education or do you have a strong interest in personalized educational support? This opportunity is for you.

Carrefour Parenfants is looking for a volunteer to support a young person experiencing significant academic difficulties. To foster their success and development, we want to offer them individualized support, tailored to their pace, abilities, and circumstances.

Homework is a huge challenge for this young person. They need a patient, creative, and dedicated individual who can transform learning into positive and rewarding experiences.

Tasks

Through a relationship of trust and consistent support, you will help a young person develop their academic skills, self-confidence, and motivation.

Specifically, you will be required to:

• Assist a young person with their homework and lessons;
• Adapt explanations and learning strategies to their specific needs;
• Demonstrate creativity and resourcefulness to make concepts more accessible and concrete;
• Break down tasks and offer methods adapted to their learning pace;
• Encourage successes and recognize effort;
• Maintain a calm, safe, and conducive learning environment.

Desired qualifications

• Possess a particular sensitivity towards young people with learning difficulties;
• Studying special education, teaching, learning support, or a related field (a significant asset);
• Demonstrate patience, empathy, and kindness;
• Able to adapt their approach to the young person's needs;
• Enjoy taking on challenges and finding creative solutions;
• Reliable, punctual, and consistent in their commitment.

Expected level of involvement

Every Monday from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., from September 21 to December 7, 2026.

Continued involvement is also possible and encouraged during the following term: from January 14 to June 7, 2027.
