Context of the mandate

Fondation Maisons Oxygène is seeking committed individuals interested in joining its Board of Directors and contributing to the development of a high-impact social organization.

Fondation Maisons Oxygène’s mission is to support the development, sustainability and visibility of Maisons Oxygène throughout Quebec. Maisons Oxygène provide housing, guidance and support to fathers and their children experiencing periods of significant vulnerability, including separation, housing instability, psychological distress or major family disruption.

As a volunteer board member, the individual will contribute to the Foundation’s strategic direction, sound and responsible governance, philanthropic development, organizational visibility and the creation of new partnerships.

The Foundation is seeking individuals who wish to put their experience, expertise, credibility and professional network to work for a social cause that makes a tangible difference in the lives of fathers and their children.

 

 

 

 

Tasks

• Participate in the Foundation’s strategic direction;
• Contribute to sound and rigorous governance;
• Support the organization’s philanthropic development and visibility;
• Help create new partnerships;
• Help expand the Foundation’s network of relationships;
• Share expertise and knowledge of the business or philanthropic sector;
• Act as an ambassador for the Foundation and its mission.

Desired qualifications

We are seeking an individual with:

• strong experience in their field,
• a substantial and well established professional network, the ability to build relationships with executives, companies, foundations, major donors and potential partners, an understanding of organizational development, funding and visibility issues, strategic vision and sound judgment,
• and a willingness to contribute actively to the Foundation’s growth and sustainability.

Relevant backgrounds may include senior leadership, entrepreneurship, business development, finance, large corporations, major foundations, strategic philanthropy, major gifts, partnerships or social investment. Previous board experience is an asset.

Expected level of involvement

The usual term is two years.

Participation in approximately 4 to 6 Board meetings per year is expected, including the Annual General Meeting.

Meetings are generally held on Wednesdays from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Active participation in discussions, strategic direction and the Foundation’s development is expected.

Depending on the person’s interests and expertise, occasional involvement in committees, philanthropic development initiatives or representation activities may also be proposed.
