Do you enjoy connecting with others, listening, and making a meaningful difference? We are looking for volunteers who speak Italian and/or Greek to provide friendly visits and companionship to residents in our long-term care home (CHSLD).

Your presence will help reduce social isolation, promote residents' well-being, and give them the opportunity to communicate in their native language.

Responsibilities

• Visit residents on a one-on-one basis.
• Engage in friendly conversations in Italian or Greek, depending on the resident's preferred language.
• Provide a warm, compassionate, and supportive presence.
• Accompany residents on walks or to recreational activities and special events, as needed.
• Encourage conversation and reminiscence by discussing residents' life stories, interests, and cultural traditions.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Fluency in Italian and/or Greek.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Patient, compassionate, and a good listener.
• Enjoy working with older adults.

Commitment

• Flexible schedule based on your availability.
• Preferred commitment of approximately 1–2 hours per week.
