Once again this year, the SSVP of Montreal is stepping up to provide tangible support to vulnerable families during the holiday season.

To achieve this, we are putting together a team of dedicated volunteers who will take on a vital role: receiving, verifying, and processing requests for food assistance as part of the Christmas food basket, which will run from October through mid-December.

Your Role on the Team

By joining a dynamic team of five volunteers, you will play a key role in ensuring the success of the campaign.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Welcoming clients with respect, compassion, and active listening.
• Answering phone calls and responding to messages related to assistance requests.
• Collecting and verifying the required information and supporting documents (proof of residence, etc.).
• Assisting with the processing and classification of Christmas Hamper applications.
• Taking part in the distribution of Christmas Hampers in early December by warmly welcoming recipients and distributing food hampers and gift cards to beneficiary families.

Please note: Basic computer skills (data entry and the use of simple software systems) are required. Full training on our internal software will be provided.

In 2025, 3,679 Christmas Hampers were distributed. This year, you can be part of the team that makes this incredible act of generosity possible.

From welcoming and assisting applicants to helping distribute Christmas Hampers in early December, your commitment will have a direct and meaningful impact on individuals and families in need during the holiday season.

If you enjoy working as part of a team and are at least 17 years old, we'd love to have you join us!

This volunteer opportunity requires a commitment of at least one day per week, with the option to volunteer more often based on your availability.

Volunteers are needed Monday to Friday, between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., for approximately three months, from October to mid-December.

This is an in-person volunteer position based at the SSVP of Montreal administrative office, located at 1930 De Champlain Street, Montreal.
