Context of the mandate

Put your financial expertise to work for the common good 

The Marie-Gérin-Lajoie Social Training Center (CMGL) is seeking a volunteer board member with a CPA designation to join its board of directors. 

The CMGL contributes to the development of a more just, inclusive, and nonviolent society through training, social dialogue, conflict prevention, and civic engagement.  

About the Board of Directors 

The Board of Directors is composed of 5 volunteer members. We are currently seeking 2 new board members, including one person with a CPA designation. 

Join a Board of Directors committed to promoting peace, social harmony, and social transformation through education and dialogue. 

Tasks

Qualifications: CPA 

We are looking to welcome someone who holds the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation and wishes to put their expertise to work for a nonprofit organization. 

Depending on their experience and interests, this person will be able to contribute to: 

• Analyzing and understanding financial statements; 
• Budget monitoring; 
• Best practices in financial governance; 
• Financial risk management; 
• Strategic planning regarding the Center’s financial health and development. 

Desired qualifications

We are looking to meet individuals who: 

• Hold the CPA designation; 
• Have an interest in the governance of nonprofit organizations; 
• Wish to put their skills to work for a meaningful social mission; 
• Embrace the Center’s values of social justice, dialogue, inclusion, and civic engagement.  

Expected level of involvement

Term and Commitment 

• Role: Volunteer board member,
• Term of office: 2 years,
• Attendance at a minimum of 8 Board of Directors meetings per year,
• Contribution to the organization’s governance and strategic direction.

Start Date 

The selected candidate may be co-opted as early as September 2026 and participate in the work of the Board of Directors prior to their official election. 

The election will be put before the members at the Annual General Meeting on October 21, 2026.
