As part of the Solidarity in Action Project, the Africa-Canada Solidarity Foundation mobilizes both young and senior volunteers to promote mutual aid, intergenerational connections, and community support for older adults. The objective is to actively contribute to the well-being of seniors, strengthen community solidarity, and foster an inclusive and engaged community. Volunteers will play an essential role in implementing project activities and supporting beneficiaries. 1. Support for Seniors Provide a warm, caring, and compassionate presence to beneficiaries. Participate in conversations and social activities. Promote social inclusion and help reduce isolation. Encourage seniors to participate in various activities. 2. Support During Community Activities Welcome participants. Assist with setting up and putting away equipment and materials. Provide logistical support. Offer light facilitation and guide participants as needed. Assist individuals with reduced mobility. Distribute food, supplies, or materials. 3. Neighbourhood Support and Mutual Assistance Services Grocery shopping assistance. Accompaniment to medical appointments. Lawn mowing. Snow removal. Delivery of food hampers. The schedule for volunteering will be determined by the availability of the volunteer.
