Seniors in our community often have to face medical appointments alone, despite sometimes needing assistance or companionship in these situations.

Saint-Antoine 50+ Community Centre is looking for compassionate, patient, and reliable volunteers who want to make a meaningful difference in someone’s life.

As a Medical Accompaniment Volunteer, you’ll offer companionship, clarity, and calm during their medical visits. Your presence will help seniors feel safe, supported, and empowered.

We are looking for :

• Someone who cares deeply about people.
• Patient, kind, and a good listener.
• Comfortable supporting seniors with mobility or communication needs.
• Able to keep one weekday consistently available (could be just one morning or afternoon).
• Familiarity with the medical system or studies in social or medical fields is a plus — but not required.

What you will do : 

• Accompany seniors to medical appointments.
• Help them navigate clinics and waiting rooms.
• Offer calm presence and reassurance.
• Support communication with healthcare providers, if the member requests it.
• Take notes (with permission).
• Help them understand next steps after the appointment, if requested.

Time commitment :

• Occasional, flexible accompaniment
• Ideally, available one set day per week

Training Provided

You’ll receive full training, which will include: communication skills, boundaries & ethics, safety protocols, program specificities and procedures.
