This is the most rewarding role of the event! As a walk/race guide, you will accompany a person owh is blind or have low vision throughout the entire 5 km of the CNIB Pup Crawl— an unforgettable human and sportivr experience. Whether walking, jogging, or running, you will be your partner's eyes and energy from start to finish.

Tasks and Responsibilities

• Guide a person who is blind or someone with low vision for 5 km
• Match your pace and speed to your participant's
• Point out obstacles and changes in direction
• Ensure the safety of your participant at all times
• Encourage and motivate your participant throughout the race
• Guide toward the registration table, restrooms, or parking as needed

Skills and Qualities

• Ability to walk, jog, or run (please indicate your fitness level at registration)
• Punctuality and reliability
• Enthusiasm and compassion
• Desire to support people who are blind or have low vision

Training Provided

• How to guide omeone who is blind using CNIB's step-by-step method
• Support and supervision provided by the event supervisor

Commitment Required

• Respect of CNIB's volunteer code of conduct
• Availability on event day - Friday May 22 from 4:00-7:00pm (or May 24 from 2:00-5:00pm if rescheduled)
