The event is an initiative of the parents’ committee, a new body created to represent adults in the community and organize activities for them.

This workshop aims to offer a day of respite to parents in financially vulnerable situations through a variety of care services such as manicures, pedicures, and hair styling—activities that emerged as priorities among the needs expressed by families. It is an opportunity to feel valued, take care of oneself, and break out of isolation.

Volunteers contribute their time and skills to create a warm, caring, and inclusive space. Specifically, volunteers can, for example: give a manicure (cleaning nails, filing, applying polish), offer a simple pedicure, give a haircut or set hair, braid hair, offer a short hand or scalp massage, or provide any other service that helps create a relaxed atmosphere.

We’re open to suggestions based on the volunteers’ interests and skills! The event will take place over one day in May, though the exact date has yet to be determined. If everything goes smoothly, we may hold the event some other time.
