PRESENTATION OF THE ABPQ

The Association des bibliothèques publiques du Québec (ABPQ) is the leading association representing Québec’s public libraries. Since 1984, it has provided leadership to support the development, strategic positioning, and visibility of public libraries across Québec.
The ABPQ raises awareness among decision-makers of the importance of high-quality library services in ensuring democratic and universal access to knowledge and culture for all citizens.

COMPOSITION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS

• 8 directors elected by universal vote of the members;
• 2 directors appointed by the Board of Directors;
• 1 director appointed by Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec (BAnQ).

TERM OF OFFICE

The term is approximately two years (ending in April 2028).
The term may be renewed twice.

BOARD MEETING CONDITIONS

• 6 meetings per year
• 4 virtual meetings (half-days)
• 2 in-person meetings, in Montréal or Québec City (full days)
• Follow-ups by email

Board members are invited, based on their interests and expertise, to serve on one of the Board’s standing committees.

Meal and travel expenses are reimbursed in accordance with the current policy (air travel may be provided for designated remote regions).

An orientation session and training will be offered to all Board members at the beginning of their term.
