The Friendly Visitor’s role is to offer a warm, caring, and consistent human presence to an older adult member experiencing social isolation. Through friendly visits, the visitor helps reduce loneliness, foster social connections, and improve the overall well-being of the person visited.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct regular friendly visits with an older male member of the Saint-Antoine 50+ Community Center

• Provide attentive, respectful, and non-judgmental listening

• Share simple activities such as conversation, walks, games, reading, or coffee, based on the person’s interests

• Build a trusting relationship grounded in respect, discretion, and kindness

• Respect the pace, boundaries, and needs of the person being visited

• Communicate any concerning situations to the Centre Communautaire Saint-Antoine 50+, as needed

Profile Sought

• Warm, empathetic, and reliable individual

• Interest in human relationships and working with older adults

• Strong listening and communication skills

• Respect for confidentiality

• Willingness to travel directly to the older adult’s home

Commitment

• Flexible commitment, based on the visitor’s availability and the member’s needs

• Visit frequency: weekly
