As a volunteer for French-language learning workshops and/or active listening, you will play a key role in providing both linguistic and human support to people learning French or experiencing personal difficulties. You will help create a welcoming, caring, and stimulating environment that encourages language learning as well as participants’ self-expression.

Your main responsibilities:

• Facilitate or co-facilitate French-language learning workshops, encouraging oral practice, self-confidence, and intercultural exchange.

• Provide a space for active and empathetic listening on our listening line, paying close attention to callers’ needs and responding with respect, sensitivity, and confidentiality.

• Support participants in their integration and personal expression, while encouraging everyone’s active participation. Facilitate prevention and awareness workshops on psychosocial topics.

• Collaborate with the CERHA team to plan activities, adapt content to different levels, and ensure a positive, inclusive, and safe environment.

What you bring:

• Attentive and respectful listening skills, with the ability to welcome diverse experiences and backgrounds.

• An interest in teaching or language support, or an openness to helping people learn French.

• The ability to work as part of a team, encourage intercultural exchange, and create a warm, welcoming environment for all.

Training and support:

• Basic training in active listening and facilitation methods may be provided (depending on the organization’s needs and trainer availability).

• Ongoing support and resources will be offered to assist you in your volunteer role.

Commitment:

• Regular availability, according to your capacity, to participate in and/or lead listening or workshop activities. Flexible scheduling is available.
