The 16-21 Mentoring Program is for youth receiving services under the Youth Protection Act (YPA) or the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA). Building meaningful and supportive relationships with mentors helps to unlock the full potential and equip these youth for the transition to adulthood. We observe significant improvements in 2 areas of development in the youth: emotional and social skills and executive functions (social awareness, responsible decision making, self-management and self-awareness, optimistic thinking, etc.). This program is financially supported by the Minister for Health and Social Services, and developed in partnership with the CIUSSS du Centre-Sud-de-l’Île-de-Montréal, the Laval CISSS, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Quebec. The Big Brothers Big Sisters mentoring program usually requires two regularly scheduled outings a month of 3 to 4 hours each, and a minimum of a one-year commitment.16-21 Mentoring Program
