Community-based Mentoring

The Big Brothers Big Sisters mentoring program offers youth aged 6 to 18 the opportunity to have a friend who serves as a guide, with whom they can talk and share their life experiences. Through regular outings, a close relationship develops between mentor and mentee. It is a relationship based on trust and shared interests.

Throughout the relationship, both mentor and mentee are supported by experienced Mentoring Coordinators. This experience allows for an inspiring and decisive mentoring relationship that reveals the full potential of young people and equips them for the future.
The Big Brothers Big Sisters mentoring program usually requires two regularly scheduled outings a month of 3 to 4 hours each, and a minimum of a one-year commitment.

Programs Objectives

• Provide a friend who can serve as a role model

• Help youths realize the importance of staying in school and build healthy relationships with their family and their peers. Help inspire self-confidence and trust in others so the child learns to make good decisions

• Encourage leadership and independent thinking

• Make a difference in a young person’s life while having fun
