On June 20 and 26, two teams from Telefilm Canada had a deeply human experience volunteering with Résilience Montréal, a daytime shelter that offers hot meals, clothing, respite, and support to people experiencing homelessness, many of whom are from Indigenous communities.
At this place of solidarity, ten Telefilm Canada employees lent a helping hand: in the kitchen, preparing and serving comforting meals; in the main hall, assembling hygiene kits and sorting clothing for those most in need. This powerful immersion was made possible through a meaningful connection to the community sector facilitated by the Volunteer Bureau of Montreal (VBM).
"You leave the day transformed. It’s challenging, but incredibly meaningful. And above all, it brings people closer together."
By stepping outside their usual work environment, participants discovered new sides of their colleagues, strengthening team cohesion while cultivating a deep sense of purpose. Volunteering proved to be a powerful lever for both personal and collective engagement.
The work of Résilience Montréal is essential. This urban refuge, operating under demanding conditions, embodies dignity, compassion, and presence for hundreds of marginalized individuals. The connection made with the organization was enabled by the support of the Volunteer Bureau of Montreal (VBM), which helps bridge the gap between companies and the real needs of the community.
This initiative left a lasting mark. What if, together, we kept the impact going, well beyond these few days?
