FrancisAction, when volunteering becomes a universal language
is a project that aims to facilitate the social integration of immigrants who are challenged by a language barrier through Francisation and volunteering.

A Sixteen-Week-Long Integration Project

The first stage of the project is to speak regularly in French. The immigrant participant (whose first language is neither French nor English) and their partner volunteer talk (at least once a week) about everyday topics and share their respective cultures.

This first phase is important for the immigrant participants and is the best way for them to start off their integration into Montreal. The immigrant participant is able to familiarize themselves with the vocabulary necessary to daily life and learn more about Quebec culture.

In the second stage, the participant takes action!

Each participant is referred to a French-speaking community organization that corresponds with their interests and the participant will help them, in turn. Volunteering is a wonderful integration tool into Quebec culture and is a way to expand one’s network and to create an enriching experience.

The integration can then extend beyond cultural integration into social and even professional integration.
