To empower young people to initiate and engage in community and creative projects that promote social inclusion, combat urban isolation across all generations, and spark positive societal change.
Our Friendly Calls program, sponsored by the @Bell Let's Talk campaign, matches volunteers with older adults for 20-minute calls aimed to reduce the isolation, loneliness and depression experienced by seniors. Our volunteers receive individual training for active listening, managing interpersonal relations, and recognizing red flags. The calls can be made remotely during daytime.     We are looking for volunteers to help our members who are unable to leave the house to do their shopping, collect their mail, etc. or require an accompaniment. This service can be one time request but also a regular request, so this act of service is an excellent opportunity to interact with a member to break the loneliness experienced by older adults and perhaps to develop a friendship.   • Yellow Door is looking for 2 volunteers to add to our Film Discussion Group. The volunteer will help suggest monthly themes and movies for film cycles. The themes and the movies must be suitable for group discussion together with the other volunteers. Volunteers should be comfortable interacting with others and being an active part of the group.
